The man who fired a gun at the AfroFuture Festival arrested

Police have arrested a man seen firing warning gunshots in a viral video featuring Nigerian musician Asake and a group of associates, following direct orders from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

The arrest comes amid public outrage and security concerns over the reckless display of firearms, which circulated widely on social media and sparked debate about public safety and the misuse of weapons.

According to police sources, the suspect was picked up after investigations confirmed his involvement in the incident captured in the video, which appeared to show celebratory gunfire in a public setting.

Law enforcement authorities say the action was taken to reinforce zero tolerance for unlawful firearm use and to deter similar acts, assuring the public that further investigations are ongoing to determine how the weapon was acquired and whether additional persons will be held accountable.
